Re: Paralympics
thought these people were pretty much blind and could only make out shapes with the aid of strong glasses.

probably misinformed.

Re: Paralympics
Not really, mate. They need strong glasses - I don't see how that affects their legs. This is proved by the fact they can run world class able-bodied times, albeit in a world record time for their classification against a piss poor one for the able-bodieds.

Re: Paralympics
still pretty amazing that visually impaired people can beat people with normal eyesight, no?

Probably because the competitors in that race were not what most of us would recognise as disabled. Unless needing glasses is on a par with having one leg.

Can't help thinking that I read somewhere that Ukraine spend serious dollars on their paralympians.

Guess they're proud of them like we are.

The Chinese................are they actually disabled any of their athletes ?................. are they being rigorously tested ?, it does seem somewhat bizarre that they are so far out in front

Why are THE Ukraine so high in the table? Bigger spaz count due to Chernobyl?

Russians had to sell their steroids to someone.

West Ham fan going for gold at Rio in Tennis final on Wednesday night. Follow him on Twitter @lapstar11

West Ham fan Andy Lapthorne secured his place in the wheelchair tennis quad singles final with a nerveless victory over American David Wagner.

Wagner, the second seed and London 2012 silver medallist, pushed the British number four seed the distance but Lapthorne prevailed 6-3, 2-6, 6-3 in a match lasting one hour and 40 minutes.

They’d played each other 41 times before this encounter and the ParalympicsGB player had lost on 31 occasions.

But when it mattered the 25-year old delivered, the emotion of the moment clear after he converted a match point at the first opportunity.

"That was the best night of my life bar none. I will forever love Rio for this night. Ive got a big shot at Gold now. Believe you me, this wasn't my final, my final is on Wednesday and I will be there raring to go"

Lets get behind him.

Circus freak show. All the legit cripples I'd beat at any of their sports. All the winners, those I couldn't beat, cheat with springs for legs etc.

I'm really enjoying this, especially after today. 15 Golds in the bag now, second in the table again.

We are a truly glorious Olympic nation.
